Automatic Instrument Transformer Test Set CTP-120PA is a portable and multifunctional test kit for testing both current transformers and voltage transformers in their equipment configuration, such as being mounted in transformers, oil circuit breakers or switchgear. It is necessary for the equipment to be completely isolated from the electrical system.
With a one-click button, the CTP-120PA performs a CT saturation test and calculates the rated knee point in compliance with either IEEE C57.13.1, IEC 60044-1, IEC 60044-6 or IEC 61869 on both standards as well as of specialized CTs such as PX, TPS, TPX, TPY and TPZ. The saturation test can test knee point up to 40 kV. This allows testing even the larger generation class CT with a portable instrument.
Many substations CTs include a multi-ratio secondary, therefore the CTP-120PA has the ability to plot and simultaneously display up to 6 CT saturation curves.
As part of a regular maintenance program to verify factory readings and locate the presence of defects in voltage transformers, the CTP-120PA can accurately measure the ratio, polarity, excitation characteristic and secondary winding resistance.

During operation and routine DC winding resistance testing, it is possible for a CT to become magnetized. The Automatic Instrument Transformer Test Set CTP-120PA includes an automated CT demagnetization function, which allows determination of accurate knee point and ratio thus providing stable, repeatable test results, and reduces test time.
